Full Time 2nd Draft Feedback

We showed the 2nd draft of our film opennig, Full Time, to our media class in order to recive feedback on what needs work. Whilst we received many positive comments but the most helpful were the negitive ones on what needs work.
Here is some of the feedback:

"I think some of the shots looked to generic. They were good however some looked too ‘setup’"
We tried to use a wide varitiy of different shots in our film, not all of them worked as well as we had hoped and many of these were cut out during editing process. In order to create this film we watched many chase scenes from differernt films and tried to use some of the shots from these films to help, but many we created our selves. This is why some of the shots look 'setup' but thats the way we intended our film to look.

"I think the typography was positioned very well however you should consider changing the font."
We considered many spaces for the postioning of the typography but i beleive the spaces we have chosen fit well in our film. As for the font we are going to change it during our next edit of the film, we just wanted to give a basic veiw of what it would look like in the finished film.

"I think the music suited it very well. However I think it should have been synced to the motion a little better."
The music we selected during our chase scene was a Pendulum Encoder, we selected this music as it is quite a fast paced song that fits well withthe fast pace of our scene. We tried to match the shots to the fast paced nature of the scene although we felt some shots didnt work as well as we had hoped. Those that didnt work will be replaced during our next edit of the film.

Full Time - First Draft

This is the first draft of our media film called Full Time. It is not the complete version as there are somethings that we need to take out in editing. Also the titles need more work but appart from that its nearly complete.

Shot List

The primary shots we decided to use in our film opening included:

Panning Shot - Used when Jonny is being chased across a ledge, the camera is situated at a lower level moving with the action, emphasising the pace of the chase. This is also used when nearing the end of the film, with the camera panning around the victims head, showing his worried, panicked emotion.
Close-Up - A shoe of each actor is shown closely as they run past, emphasising who was chasing who and increasing the tension as these short clips are transitioned with a black screen with the sound of someone panting.
Still - This was probably our most commonly used shot. The actor(s) would run past the camera, giving the audience a chance to establish characters clothes etc. This shot is also used towards the end of the film opening when the victim is at gunpoint, we feel this shot was necessary as it shows the victims vulnerability and the attackers dominance. This shot was most effectively used when we incorporated the sunset into the shot. The sun coming through the railings allowed us to show the actors as silhouettes, which would only be possible with  a still.
P.O.V. - This was only used once and we are unsure whether or not to use it in the final draft. This was used from the point of view of a chaser, showing him running down a flight of steps. This shot was very unsteady and the light intensity was poor, however, it gave an alternative view and emphasised the pace.
Zoom Out - Whilst running across a bridge, the cameraman stood at the end waiting, as they approached the camera zoomed out with them, they ran past the camera showing the intensity of the run.
Extreme Close Up - Used when iPod is being plugged in and on the gun near the end. Showing the gun close up emphasises the importance of the weapon.
Pan-Up - The final shot used, as the victim leaves the house the camera pans up into the cloudy, white sky, locating an ideal spot for the title Full Time to appear.

For each of these different shots we used we tried to include space in shot that we could use for the tiltes and typeography. I believe that we used this effectivly in our final production as there were many opertunities in which we had space left over in shot to put in these titles but there were also spaces that we didnt use, that were left blank during the actual film. This ended up working very well.

First Draft Feed Back

On the 6th of December 2011 our media class presented to each other our projects, unfortunatly due to technical difficulties my group were un able to show of First Draft of our project. Instead we showed some short clips of our film that were out of sequence and did not make much sence with out the rest of the footage. Although we did still get possitive feed back about where our film was going:

"lots of good shots in there!"

"Some great camera angles, and the sun really adds to the production values"

"I love your camera angles it looked so damn cool!!!"

"When its finished I think its gonna be really good!!!!"

We did also get a bit of negative feed back about the film though. This is good as now we know where we can imporve and how to do it.

This is the first storyboard draft of our film opening, "full time".
In this draft I have chosen a simple sketch format that can be changed easily; it can be seen that in this first sheet I have left some aspects of the edit open to later development.
In this case I have not made any finalisations regarding the opening credits as I am not in charge of title design.

The storyboard is really good and as head of titles for our group there are many places that the titles can go, they will be put in during the editing process.

Typography - Final Decision

After discussing with my group which font shall be used forThis – blatant is the font to be used that shows the peoples names who are involved in the film opening

Unfortunately you cannot use punctuation in this font but i believe it is the one that suits the theme of our film opening

This is the font that shall be used to show the name of the film – full time. We believe this font is the one that appeals most to our target audience and suits The genre of our film opening.

As I am doing the titles for our group, I had some say in the typography and believe that this is the fount that works best for our film. This will be the final typography for film and will appear in the final cut.

Full Time - Narrative

A football fan discovers that his local team are illegally being run by the mafia, but before he can tell anyone the mafia kill him.

After his death three friends find out the mafia are illegally running the team thorough a series of clues he left them in his will, they also find out that they kill him and swear revenge on his life.

They then come up with a plan that will get the football team back in to their hands and get the mafia boss arrested.
